Bertram Family Medical Centre is a MIXED BILLING practice on all days of the week from 1st December 2022.

From 1st December 2022, Bertram Family Medical Centre will become a mixed billing practice on all days of the week. This change would mean that there will be out of pocket cost for your appointments. The rebate we receive from Medicare does not cover the operational costs of practice. We are committed to providing the best quality healthcare for our, patients & so we have taken this step to protect viability & sustainability of our practice.

You will need to bring a valid Medicare card, Concession or Pension cards to each visit. Non-Medicare card holders will be charged a fee for consultations. All Fees must be paid on the day.

We will continue to Bulk Bill the following patients groups:

  • Children under 16 Years
  • Pension Card holders
  • Concession card holders
  • DVA Gold card Holders
  • Health assessments
  • Chronic Disease Management (Care Plans)
  • Office tests – ECG, Spirometry, ABPI etc

STANDARD COSULTATION: $75.00

LONG CONSULTATION: $110.00

Private Fees apply for non-Medicare cardholders.

Doctor or Reception staff can advise you at your consultation regarding the fees.

  • Wedge resection of toenails
  • Laceration repair
  • Privately Charged vaccinations not funded by the Government

Non-Medicare Rebatable Consultations:

These consultations incur a fee and are Medicare rebatable. Please speak our friendly reception staff when making an appointment for these types of consultations.

  • Pre-Employment medical assessments & related investigations
  • HUET Medical assessments
  • Fitness for duty assessments

Appointments

We cater for urgent, non-urgent, complex, chronic disease management, health checks, immunisations, insurance and drivers medicals and case conference consultations.
A standard appointment is 10 minutes however if you require more time, longer appointments are available. Please advise the receptionist when booking your appointment and they will assist you accordingly.

Walk-ins

We encourage pre-booked appointments.

 Please speak to our receptionist if you do not have an appointment and need to see one of our doctors.

Interpreter services

For patients experiencing language or disability difficulties, a translator can be arranged.
If you require this service, please discuss this with our receptionist when making your appointment. Our doctors also speak the following languages: Hindi, Telugu, Kannada and Russian.

Recall/Reminder system

You will be automatically enrolled in our Recall/ Reminder system to inform you of recurring healthcare issues such as annual check-ups, care planning and immunisations. Please advise the receptionist if you do not wish to participate. Patients will be contacted for recalls when clinically indicated and necessary.

Telephone policy

Most issues are best dealt with in consultation with your doctor, however you may leave a message with the receptionist to forward to your doctor and he/she will endeavour to return your call.

Test results, referrals, and scripts

We have a policy that requires you to make an appointment to discuss all test results. Due to the Privacy Act 1988, we cannot give results out over the phone.
Referrals and repeat scripts will be issued during your consultation, and generally cannot be issued in response to a phone request. Your doctor may do so at his/her discretion; however this may attract a fee.

Confidentiality:

Your medical records are available only to clinical staff. Your personal and private information is not shared with any 3rd party, unless you have given prior, written consent.

We have been accredited by the Australian General Practice Accreditation Limited (AGPAL), a leading provider of accreditation and related quality improvement services to general practice.

After Hours & Home Visits

Our Practice supports the Western Australian Medical Deputising Service (WADMS) for after hours home visits.

Home visits by a General Practioner at our Practice will only be considered and approved by the General Practitioner for Palliative reasons.
